Mail News Service

Ranchi: Extensive traffic restrictions will be enforced in Ranchi for three days in view of President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Jharkhand. The traffic changes will remain in effect from December 28 to December 30, during which several routes will be closed or diverted and public transport services will be suspended on key stretches.

According to traffic police officials, special arrangements have been made to ensure smooth movement of the President’s convoy and to maintain security. From the airport to Raj Bhavan, more than 85 locations have been identified for barricading and movement on all designated “red routes” will be completely restricted during convoy hours. Over 75 roads connecting major arteries will also face partial or complete closures.

Passengers travelling by air have been advised to reach the airport well in advance. Those scheduled to depart on the last flight on December 28 must arrive at the airport before 4:30 pm. Similarly, passengers travelling on the morning flights of December 29 have been instructed to reach the airport by 7:30 am. Additional deployment of traffic personnel will be made along the airport–Raj Bhavan route, covering nearly 300 points.

Auto-rickshaw and e-rickshaw services will remain completely suspended on restricted routes for all three days. Heavy vehicles and non-essential traffic will also be barred from several city roads during peak security hours, particularly on Harmu Road and adjoining areas.

Meanwhile, the two-day Kartik Jatra will begin on December 29 at Raydih in Gumla district. Union Minister Jual Oram and JMM national president Shibu Soren are scheduled to attend the event. The valedictory ceremony on December 30 will be attended by President Droupadi Murmu as the chief guest. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and other dignitaries are also expected to be present.

Traffic police have appealed to residents to cooperate, follow advisories and use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience during the President’s visit.
