Traffic crackdown nets 100 offenders in Jamshedpur, Rs 2.61 lakh fines collected

Jamshedpur, Sept 29: In a special traffic drive launched ahead of Durga Puja, city traffic police have intensified action against drunk driving, rash driving, and the use of modified silencers, nabbing 100 violators in just two days.

The drive, carried out under the directive of SSP Piyush Pandey and led by City SP Kumar Shivashish, resulted in the collection of  Rs 2.61 lakh in fines.

A car driver caught driving under the influence in Bistupur was fined  Rs 10,000, while three offenders in Sakchi and two in Mango were collectively fined  Rs 20,000.

Several others faced penalties for rash driving and illegal vehicle modifications.

All offenders were released after paying the fines and receiving strict warnings.

City SP Kumar Shivashish said the campaign will continue during the Durga Puja festivities to curb accidents.

“Driving under the influence or rashly can lead to serious mishaps. We urge people to celebrate responsibly and ensure road safety,” he said.
