Traditional Poila Boishakh celebrations at Jamshedpur Tagore Society

 Jamshedpur, April 15: Jamshedpur, a canvas of multihued cultures and traditions, on Saturday saw the celebration of Bengali New Year commencing with the first day of Boishakh, year 1430. Tagore Society has been one of the foremost treasure troves of Bengali traditional and culture through six decades of propagating Rabindranath Tagore’s awe inspiring literary creations that define Bengal, Bengalis, their traditionsa and cultures.

The Tagore Society organized the Poila Boishakh celebrations at Rabindra Bhawan on Saturday, April 15. President of the Society Dr HS Pal and General Secretary Ashis Chowdhury inaugurated the festivities with flowers. A prayer and other songs were rendered by the teachers and students of Tagore School of Arts run by The Tagore Society. In his address on the occasion, Tagore Society’s General Secretary Ashis Chowdhury stated, “Every culture, every tradition, need to be preserved and this responsibility rests on the shoulders of the present generation to carry forward the glorious heritage before passing on ther baton proudly to their following generation. I pray for the peace, prosperity and progress for all and may our Bangla New Year 1430 mark a new beginning of continued joy.”
