Jamshedpur, Jan. 1: Jharkhand has highest number of oral cancer patients and main reason behind this is consumption of tobacco.
There is huge dearth of awareness towards severe diseases in developing countries as compared to the developed and this is the reason behind huge number of deaths among patients suffering these diseases, said Dr. Gouri Shankar Bhattacharyya, Oncologist at Fortis Hospital in Kolkata, talking to the mediapersons at a city hotel on Friday.

Citing an example, Dr. Bhattacharyya who is at an invitation of Marwari Yuva Manch for Cancer awareness seminar in the city said insects also don�t sit on tobacco leafs and animals also don�t eat but humans still use this deadly product.
Talking about the increasing impact of cancer, Dr. Bhattacharyya, said, �The main reason behind cancer is lack of awareness and limited resources for its treatment along with haphazard life style�. He stressed on special session on cancer awareness in schools and government should appoint after training aanganbari sevikas for awreness in rural areas.
Dr. Gouri Shankar will be available for cancer consultation for patients at Chamber Bhawan in Bistupur from 10 am to 12 noon on Saturday, January 2. On the same day he will be addressing the gathering at Centre for Excellence at 5 pm.
