Jamshedpur, May 16: Tata Main Hospital (TMH) marked International Nurses Day 2025 with a week-long celebration honoring the unwavering dedication and service of its nursing staff. The theme for this year, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for Nurses Strengthens Economy”, underscores the pivotal role nurses play not only in healthcare but also in the broader development of society and economy.
The highlight of the week was a special function chaired by D B Sundara Ramam, Vice President Corporate Services, Tata Steel in the presence of Sanjeev Choudhary, President, Tata Workers’ Union. 850 people attended the function which included the nurses of TMH, TWU office bearers, HODs and other senior officials. The event brought together nursing fraternity in a heartfelt tribute to their resilience, commitment, and compassion.
In his address, Sundara Ramam lauded the nurses for their frontline leadership and service. Echoing the sentiment, Sanjeev Choudhary commended the nursing staff for their integral role in healthcare delivery and emphasized the importance of continued support and recognition for their contributions.
Vinita Singh, General Manager Medical Services, Tata Steel also addressed the gathering, expressing gratitude and reaffirming TMH’s commitment to nurturing a supportive and progressive environment for nurses.
Throughout the week, TMH organized a series of events across various locations including Jamshedpur, Jamadoba, Noamundi and Joda. The events included blood donation camp, cultural programmes, health camp and debate session, all aimed at celebrating the spirit of nursing and fostering a culture of appreciation and growth.
TMH, Jamshedpur organised a one-day voluntary blood donation camp, with the engagement visible from all cadres of healthcare personnels including student nurses. Total 45 units was collected out of which 50% was from female donors which is a rare occurrence, as quoted by the executives present there.
At Jamadoba, Sanjay Rajoria, General Manager, Jharia Division, along with other dignitaries and Sister Kiran Toppo, Nursing Superintendent paid homage to Florence Nightingale. This was followed by a cultural program.
Noamundi organised a health camp on international Nurse’s Day at village Kantadiya. The camp was conducted with the help of our new Mobile Medical Unit used for the first time after inauguration. The health camp aimed to provide free medical check-ups, consultations, blood sugar test, hemoglobin estimation and malaria parasite test. Free medicines were also distributed to the beneficiaries. Many malaria cases were detected & treated appropriately.
The International Nurse’s Day celebration at Joda included an oath taking ceremony and cake cutting followed by a debate session on the theme for this year. The best paper presentation for session 2024-25 was also awarded during the event. The celebration marked the presence of Rajesh Kumar, Chief, and other dignitaries and nursing staff.
At West Bokaro, the celebration included various events including lamp lighting, nurses pledge, anthem and cultural activities followed by words of wisdom from the Guest of Honour, Anurag Dixit, General Manager, West Bokaro.
