Jamshedpur: Central Sterilization and Supply Unit (CSSU) and Emergency & Trauma Centre were inaugurated at Tata Main Hospital on Thursday.
The Central Sterilization and Supply Unit (CSSU) has been set up with an objective to sterilize articles at the required time and place for use at multiple locations of various hospital and dispensaries. The Department of Emergency on the other hand has been expanded, infrastructure improved and services enhanced to make it function as an Emergency & Trauma Centre.
Speaking on the inauguration of both these facilities, T V Narendran, MD, Tata Steel, India and South East Asia said, “We are delighted by the new additions to the Hospital. These new centers will ensure more effective management of procedures and help provide upgraded treatment & services to patients. We are committed to the cause of world class Industrial hospital providing impeccable health care services”.
The new CSSU will take care of all the activities related to reprocessing, cleaning and packing of surgical instruments, sterilization and storage of sterile items in a controlled environment.
This modern CSSU is a structured department with separate dirty, clean and sterile zones. The facility documents various processes, including equipment maintenance, log of every load, re-sterilization of expired packs and recall for any sterilization or related failures.
Each and every process in the CSSU is supported by a Standard Operational Procedure as per the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Health Care Providers (NABH) guidelines, said a hospital spokesperson.
The Department of Emergency at Tata Main Hospital so far has been functioning from a modest set up with limited facilities.
The hospital has now decided to upgrade and expand the Emergency department, besides improving the infrastructure and offering enhanced services, to make the department function as an Emergency & Trauma Centre.
