TMH Doctors made aware of International Quality Parameters followed in Labs

Jamshedpur, Jan 12 : The Department of Pathology at Tata Main Hospital (TMH) & MELAP (Medical Education & Learning Point, New Delhi) in association with QCI (Quality Council of India) has organised a 4-day Internal auditors training program at Tata Main Hospital, Jamshedpur from 7th -10th of January 2015 as per ISO 15189:2012 version and NABL 112 guidelines.

The programme was inaugurated by Lt. Gen (Retd.) Dr G Ramdas, General Manager, Medical Services, TMH. The function was attended by the Heads of the department & the delegates from different locations.

This programme, organized for the first time in Jamshedpur, was conducted by senior faculty & NABL assessors – Dr. Neeraj Jain & Dr. Sumeet Singhal from New Delhi, coordinated by Anil Saini (MELAP, Program Co-coordinator, New Delhi) & Dr. Minakshi Mishra (Head, Pathology, TMH). A total of 35 participants comprising Pathologists & lab technologists from Jamshedpur namely (Tata Main Hospital, Tata motors Hospital, JBB, Lal’s Pathlab) and other locations including Kolkata, Ranchi & Patna participated in the programme.

The programme aimed to make participants aware of International Quality Parameters followed in Labs across the world, systems & processes with precision & strict quality control leading to accurate test results.

The test results from a NABL accredited Lab is accepted in more than 50 countries. While there are approximately 500 NABL accredited labs in India, in the State of Jharkhand, there are only three NABL accredited Pathology labs of which Dept. of Pathology at Tata Main Hospital is one of them which got accredited in March 2014.
