Tinplate Workers Union Jamshedpur seeks equal facilities for employees as provided by Tata Steel

Jamshedpur: The Golmuri Tinplate Workers Union held a meeting of its executive members under the leadership of Union President Rakeshwar Pandey on Monday to discuss the pending issues and demands of employees. The meeting addressed several concerns, emphasizing that the Tinplate Division should receive the same facilities as Tata Steel.

The following key demands were raised during the meeting:

  1. Grade Division Settlement: The union demanded a respectable settlement of the grade division for Tinplate employees, pending since April 1, 2024, and adjustment of the NS grade and old grade employees.
  2. Equal Facilities as Tata Steel: The union insisted that after the Tinplate Division’s adjustment with Tata Steel, all Tata Steel facilities—such as grade structure, scholarships, canteen, hospital, town maintenance, and promotions—should be implemented for Tinplate employees.
  3. Salary Slip Inconveniences: The union requested immediate rectification of issues in the salary slips and the establishment of a help desk for employees.
  4. Improvements in Facilities: The union urged the management to address the inconveniences faced by employees at TMH (Tinplate Division) and in the town.
  5. Job for Job and VRS Scheme: The union called for the implementation of the job-for-job and Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) similar to Tata Steel.
  6. Housing and Allowances: They demanded housing and house allowances for employees residing in the 10-number colony.
  7. Employment for Children of Employees: The union requested that jobs be made available to the children of Tinplate Division employees and that vacant positions, created due to retirements, be filled by these children.
  8. Union Category Employee Benefits: Employees of the Union category who haven’t received fitment benefits should be provided with them, along with mobile and mobile recharge allowances.
  9. Welfare Scheme Continuation for Retired Employees: The union insisted that the welfare scheme for retired employees should not be discontinued.
  10. Water and Electricity Control: The union demanded that Tinplate Company maintain control over the water and electricity supply in the 10-number colony.
  11. Union Membership and Identity Cards: The union proposed that membership cards, similar to Tata Workers Union, should be issued for Tinplate Division Union members, along with identity cards for executive committee members.
  12. Medical Book Renewal: The union suggested that the renewal of medical books be done in the Tinplate Division hospital instead of Gurukul.
  13. Leave Bank Facility: The union demanded the restoration of the leave bank facility in the Tinplate Division.                                                                                                    Union President Rakeshwar Pandey concluded the meeting by urging unity among union members and stressed the importance of management and the union working together to resolve these issues and implement a fair grade revision, taking the company to greater heights.

Key attendees included President Rakeshwar Pandey, General Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, Vice President Parvinder Singh Sohal, and senior members such as Satnam Singh, A Ramesh Rao, Sai Babu Raju, Jagjit Singh, and others.

  1. Whatever little I know Sir Ratan Tata is a fair man and cares for his employees. He just needs to be informed. He will give you more than what you can fathom to ask. He believes in We and not I. Great philanthropist and a man worth his salt. By the way I am no were associated with Tatas in any way except a few equity stocks held being TATA brand. ButvI respect the TATAS.
