Jamshedpur, March 5: The India Meteorological Department’s Meteorological Centre in Ranchi has forecast a spell of partly cloudy weather accompanied by the possibility of light rain and isolated thunderstorms across parts of Jharkhand including Jamshedpur for three days beginning Saturday, March 7.
According to the latest bulletin, south-eastern districts are likely to witness light rain or thunderstorms at isolated places on March 7.
Similar conditions are expected to prevail over the eastern region of the state on March 8.
The outlook for March 9 indicates partly cloudy skies with chances of rain or thunderstorms at isolated locations, mainly in eastern Jharkhand.
The change in weather is attributed to prevailing upper air systems over eastern India. An upper air cyclonic circulation persists over south Assam and adjoining areas at about 0.9 Km above mean sea level. Another cyclonic circulation at the same altitude lies over North Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh.
These systems are facilitating moisture incursion and cloud formation over the region, influencing weather conditions in Jharkhand.
Despite the forecasted developments, dry weather prevailed across the state during the past 24-hours.
The highest maximum temperature of 36.0°C was recorded at Chaibasa, while the lowest minimum temperature of 10.6°C was reported from Khunti.
Weather department officials have advised residents, particularly in eastern and south-eastern districts, to remain alert for sudden thunderstorms and brief spells of rain later this week.
