Three women arrested with brown sugar worth Rs 7 Lakh in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: In a raid conducted by the district police under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police, three women were arrested on charges of smuggling brown sugar in the Muslim Basti area of Adityapur. The police seized 35.44 grams of brown sugar, valued at approximately Rs. 7 lakh. The arrested individuals—Rahima Khatun, Nazmun Nisha, and Sahida Khatun—are residents of H Road in Muslim Basti. Rahima Khatun was found with 20.37 grams of brown sugar, along with a mobile phone; Nazmun Nisha had 6.36 grams; and Sahida Khatun was carrying 8.71 grams of the drug. The substances were neatly packed in 40 packets and separate pouches. Two of the women have a criminal history, with Rahima Khatun having been previously charged in four NDPS cases, and Nazmun Nisha also having prior NDPS-related charges. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act (Sections 17(B)/21(B) and 27(A)) at Adityapur Police Station (Case No. 438/24). The women have been sent to judicial custody. The raid was led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sameer Sawaiya, and the team included several officers, such as Adityapur Police Station In-charge Rajiv Kumar Singh. Superintendent of Police Sameer Sawaiya has appealed to the public to report any suspicious activities related to drug smuggling. “Our aim is to make this district drug-free and ensure the safety of the community,” he stated.
