Jamshedpur: Loyola School Telco hosted its 8th Annual Sports Day, filled with vibrant displays of competition, camaraderie, and sportsmanship. The event was graced by Chief Guest Krishna Kumar, Deputy Municipal Commissioner of JNAC, accompanied by his wife Tanuja Krishna. The Guest of Honour, Gyanendra Karan, Principal Legal Counsel, along with other dignitaries, including Father Rector K. M. Joseph, Rev Fr. Vinod Fernandes, Fr. Gerry D’Souza, and Principal Charanjeet Ohson, were also present.
In his address, Krishna Kumar encouraged students to dream big, work hard, and respect discipline, which he considered crucial to success. He shared five life mantras, including “I am the best, I am born to win, and I will win,” urging the students to believe in themselves and their future. Gyanendra Karan also motivated the crowd with his inspiring words.
The ceremonial proceedings were led by Commander-in-Chief Nishit Rai and Arpita Tiwary. The parade featured the Captains and Vice-Captains of the four School Houses—Jaguar, Panther, Leopard, and Cheetah. Torchbearers Ronit Bakhla, Srijan Sanyal, Kashish Singh, and Shubhankar Kumar lit the sports flame, marking the official start of the event. The Drum and Bugle Corps, led by Captain Lakshya Verma, set the tone for the energetic atmosphere. Students performed various drills, including a Christmas-themed drill by the Nursery, an African dance by Std. I-III, and a Dragon drill by Std. IV-VI.
Awards were presented to top performers, including Ronit Bakhla (King of Field), Srijaya Thakur (Queen of Field), and Sidhant Kashyap (King of Track). Jaguar House was crowned Overall Champions, followed by Panther House and Leopard House as First and Second Runners-up. The ceremony concluded with the lowering of the school flag and the rendition of the Loyola Anthem.
