Jamshedpur, Oct 9: Cruel fate cast its shadow once again this time taking the life of Arjun Singh Munda (35), his wife Khushbu Singh Munda and their son Chhotu Singh Munda (8 years old) on the morning of October 8, the Vijaya Dashami day. Only their younger son two years old Bholu Munda survived and was rushed to Tata Main Hospital by the MGP PS police for immediate treatment. Bholu has suffered serious injuries. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for autopsy.
According to information Arjun Singh Munda was a carpenter by profession. He used to reside with his family near the Adivasi Jan Kalyan School under Ulidih police station. On the fateful morning at 6 am, while the Munda family was going to the paternal house in Odishas Khushiyan Thana area neighboring Baharagora, the motorcycle the family was riding on was hit by a speeding truck coming from the opposite end. While the Mundas were riding towards Ghatshila, the truck came from the opposite direction and hit the bike crushing to death, Arjun, Khushbu and Chhotu while seriously injuring Bholu. The accident occurred on NH 33 near Pipla village. The passersby were left aghast by the incident. A crowd formed and was not allowing the police to take away the bodies demanding arrest of the trucker and compensation for the family of the deceased. The police assured them of all support and picked up the bodies and sent them for autopsy while they rushed the grievously injured two year old Bholu to TMH for treatment.
The Munda family spent quality time through the Navami night on October 7, visiting various pandals, seeing various stalls and clicking selfies happily. They were indeed on a celebratory mood as the occasion so demanded. But none could ever get a whiff that they had clicked the last Selfie at one of the puja pandals they had visited. For early next morning they were on the NH 33 moving towards Ghatshila to be with their family in Odishas Khushiyan close to the Baharagora check post. That was another incident of the final joy of innocent lives.
