Wall collapse injures one person in Jamshedpur

Tension during immersion processions

Jamshedpur, Oct 9: Three incidents marked Vijaya Dashami day in Jamshedpur on October 8. Many people were left injured in these incidents. The wall of a house in Road # 15 at Jawaharnagar in Mango collapsed causing injury to a person sitting by the wall. The staggered rainfall caused a tree to fall on the affected building�s wall which caused the collapse. The person, who suffered the injury was taken to MGM Hospital. He had suffered a fractured leg.

Two incidents of skirmishes during Durga idol immersion processions were also reported. In one such incident at Khukradih under Sundernagar police station, the puja committee members had a brawl amongst themselves during the immersion procession. Six people were injured. They were taken to MGM Hospital for treatment. Two of them suffered serious injuries.

In another such happening there was a fight between two groups during the immersion procession while it was passing through Naya Bazaar in Jugsalai. The immersion party stopped the procession demanding immediate arrest of the accused persons. None had been arrested till the filing of this report. The police somehow managed to bring the situation under control after which the Durga idol was immersed. Tension prevails in the Naya Bazaar area.
