Govindpur: Class IX Student Found Dead
A second tragedy struck the Govindpur police station area, where 17-year-old Chaitanya Singh was found dead in his room. The teenager, a Class IX student at Veena Pani High School, Luabasa, was alone at home while his family was attending a party. Upon their return, they discovered the boy hanging. Police are currently investigating the motive, as the family remains unaware of any immediate cause for his distress.
Bodam: Teenager’s Body Found in Forest
In the Bodam police station area, villagers discovered the body of 16-year-old Baidyanath Besra hanging from a tree in a forest near Paharpur village. Baidyanath had left his home on May 10 to attend a local fair but never returned. His body was found approximately 500 meters from his residence the following day.
Mango: Woman Distressed Over Son’s Addiction
In Daiguttu’s Krishna Road, under the Mango police station limits, 52-year-old Rita Singh committed suicide at her residence. According to her family, the incident occurred on Monday afternoon while other members were resting. Relatives forced open her door after she failed to respond, finding her hanging from a ceiling fan.
Her husband informed police that Rita had suffered severe mental stress for months, primarily due to their son’s struggle with substance addiction.
Rising Concerns Over Adolescent Mental Health
These incidents underscore an alarming trend of psychological distress among Jamshedpur’s youth and school-going children. Local mental health advocates are calling for:
- School Intervention: Increased counselling services in institutions like Veena Pani High School.
