Three-Day sports festival kicks off at NML Jamshedpur

 

Jamshedpur, Aug 29: The National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML) inaugurated a three-day sports festival on National Sports Day with a grand ceremony that celebrated fitness, teamwork, and the spirit of Major Dhyan Chand.

The program began with an oath-taking ceremony led by NML Director Dr. Sandeep Ghosh Chowdhury and Controller of Administration Jay Shankar Sharan. In his address, Dr. Chowdhury paid tribute to hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand and encouraged employees to prioritize their health. “A healthy workforce is the foundation of an institution’s progress. Everyone should dedicate at least one hour daily to fitness,” he said.

The festival featured events like a marathon and tug of war, drawing enthusiastic participation from NML employees. Winners were felicitated with trophies and prizes, boosting the competitive spirit and camaraderie among staff.

The event was organized under the leadership of the NML Staff Club. Director Dr. Chowdhury, Vice President Dr. Sanjay Agarwal, Controller of Administration Sharan, Secretary Parmarth Suman, and members including Vijay Anand Mukhi, Santosh Rai, Rohit Modi, and Administrative Officer Viplav Vishal played key roles in ensuring the program’s success.

The festival will continue over the next two days with more sports activities aimed at promoting fitness and unity among employees.
