Jamshedpur, May 7: Seraikela-Kharsawan police arrested three persons with 32.5 gram brown sugar in Adityapur police station area on Saturday.
Those arrested were identified as Sadik Ansari, Zakir Hussain and Saddam Hussain.
According to SDPO Harvinder Singh, “The accused were caught during an anti-crime checking near the Adityapur toll bridge. A scooty rider named Sadik Ansari was stopped on his way from Kadma to Adityapur. During checking, 10 gram brown sugar was recovered from his possession.”
Police interrogated Sadik further about his associates and activities and arrested the other two accused with brown sugar. Sadik used to purchase brown sugar from the main supplier and used to sell it in Muslim Basti through the other two accused, said the SDPO.
Cops also seized Rs 2600, mobile phone and some documents from the possession of Sadik.
Seraikela-Kharsawan district police has launched anti-crime checking drive ahead of the upcoming Panchayat polls in the state, sources said.
