Jamshedpur, Nov 2: Swift action by Burmamines Police led to the arrest of three youths and the recovery of a stolen motorcycle within days of the theft. The case, registered as Burmamines Police Station Case No. 50/25 dated November 1, 2025, under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), was based on a written complaint lodged by Prabhat Ranjan Mishra. He had reported that his black Hero Splendor Plus motorcycle, bearing registration number JH05BW-1057, was stolen on October 23 from outside NTTF College, Burmamines.

Acting on the complaint, a police team was formed under the leadership of Station House Officer (SHO) Sub-Inspector Dilip Kumar Yadav to investigate the theft. Following the directives of senior officers, the team launched an intensive checking drive. During the operation near the TRF Gate, close to Dunlop Ground, police stopped three youths riding a black Hero Splendor Plus motorcycle without a number plate. On being asked to produce vehicle documents, the trio failed to show any valid papers. When police checked the engine and chassis numbers, they matched those of the motorcycle reported stolen in the registered case.

The three accused were immediately arrested and the stolen motorcycle was seized and brought to the police station. Those arrested were identified as Bittu Kalindi (21), son of Gaurav Kalindi; Sumit Verma (20); and Rohit Verma (22), both sons of Mohit Verma — all residents of Kanchan Nagar, near Chhath Ghat, Burmamines, Jamshedpur. Police records show that Bittu Kalindi has a prior criminal history and was earlier involved in Golmuri Police Station Case No. 11/23 dated May 17, 2023, under Sections 379 and 411 of the IPC.

The operation was carried out by a team comprising Sub-Inspectors Manish Kumar, Duti Krishna Mahato and Abhay Kumar, along with Head Constable Mahendra Prasad Yadav, under the supervision of SHO Dilip Kumar Yadav. Commending his team’s swift response, SHO Yadav said, “The coordinated effort and vigilance of our team helped us solve the case promptly and recover the stolen motorcycle.” Police have intensified patrolling across key locations in Burmamines to curb incidents of vehicle theft.
