Ranchi, July 24:  The Jharkhand police has now registered an FIR against three people for alleged conspiracy against the state government. A Special Branch team on Saturday, registered the arrests of Abhishek Dubey, Amit Singh and Nivaran Prasad Mahto under several sections including sedition and PC Act at Kotwali thana  in Ranchi.

An FIR has been registered against the three arrested in the raids of the Special Branch team for allegedly trying to destabilise the Hemant Soren-led government in Jharkhand. The individuals have been termed to have hatched plans against the government in the hotels of Ranchi. An FIR has been registered against Abhishek Dubey, Amit Singh and Nivaran Prasad Mahto in Kotwali police station.

A huge amount of cash has also been recovered from the arrested individuals’ hotel rooms. The arrested were allegedly in contact with few political leaders and were planning to topple the ruling JMM-Congress-RJD coalition government in Jharkhand. Two of the arrested belong to Bokaro, while one belongs to Palamu.

The Special Branch has charged sections 8/9 of the PC Act against the arrested. Along with it, sections 419, 420 124-A, 120B, 34 of the IPC and 171 of the PR Act have also been imposed on them. The individuals were arrested after information that some people were conspiring against the government of Jharkhand was leaked to the police. Following the hint, the police team raided some big hotels late on Thursday night, which lasted till late Friday night. During the raids, three people were detained and interrogated by the special branch team.

Sources in the Ranchi police revealed that the Congress MLA from Bermo Anup Singh alias Jaimangal Singh had lodged a complaint at the Kotwali thana on July 22 about some people trying to lure ruling party MLAs for toppling the government and were staying in Ranchi hotels, after which the special branch unit of the state police was pressed into service and raids were conducted in several hotels and as part of it, three persons were nabbed from a hotel along Lake Tank Road in Ranchi on Friday night.

The FIR also states that Rs 2 lakh cash, mobiles used for contacting MLAs  and the accused in their confession have also given details of the flight tickets arranged for the MLAs. The special branch unit has also seized the CCTV footage of the concerned private hotel of Ranchi.

Reportedly, they held one and a half to two lakh rupees with them. The detainees are currently being interrogated at secret locations. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-Congress-Rashtriya Janata Dal alliance had come to power in the Assembly elections in 2019 after their triumph over the BJP, winning 47 seats in the 81-member House. Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren is yet to comment on the development. While BJP had managed to win only 25 seats.

Earlier, the JMM alleged that the BJP was trying to execute the ‘Madhya Pradesh’ and ‘Karnataka model’ in Jharkhand, referring to how governments were earlier toppled in the two states.

JMM spokesperson and party central general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya said that BJP’s attempts to destabilise a government with clear cut mandate will not be successful .

“Their attempts to destabilise a democratically elected government in Jharkhand as they have done in few other states will not be successful as none of the MLAs of the ruling alliance including JMM, Congress, RJD and Left parties are prepared to be sold and have faith in the development activities initiated under the chief minister Hemant Soren,” said Bhattacharya.

Reacting to the arrest,  Jharkhand Congress Pradesh spokesperson Rakesh Sinha termed it as the old dirty trick of BJP.

“They have done it earlier too in several states by luring MLAs to topple elected governments. It again reinforces BJP believes in getting power and does not have faith in democratic norms. However, their conspiracy will not succeed in Jharkhand as all the alliance parties MLAs are united at the moment,” said Sinha.
