Jamshedpur, July 24: A youth identified as Prabhakar alias Bachu was shot dead by criminals at SNP Area in Sakchi near The Bengal Club in Jamshedpur on Saturday.
After the melee which resulted due to firing sounds, crowd managed to chase and catch one of the assailants while three others managed to flee from the spot. The nabbed youth has been identified as Rahul Yadav and was thrashed by the locals after his pistol fell on the road.
He was later handed over to the police bythe mob.
According to locals, four assailants had come in two bikes and had fired near Delhi Metro Mall and again fired in the air at around 50 meters away from the spot on the youth. Crowd rushed the injured youth Prabhakar to the MGM Hospital where he died. Criminals had fired at least three to four rounds.
Police are trying to ascertain the criminal antecendents of Rahul Yadav and who else was there with him.
Relatives of the victim, Prabhakar reached the MGM hospital and his brother Vishnu said that earlier too Prabhakar had a dispute with Rahul but later Rahul seems to have developed friendship with Prabhakar may be to get revenge.
On Friday night Prabhakar, as part of the conspiracy was called over phone to meet them and despite being told by the relatives not to go out but he refused to obey them and went out. On Saturday, Prabhakar had gone out with friends Kamlesh and Rishabh at around 10 am and after few hours they got information that he has been shot dead.
Police has taken Rahul under custody and is also interrogating Kamlesh and Rishabh.
