Jamshedpur, July 4: The Kapali OP police successfully rescued Sunil Kumar Prasad, a resident of Kadma Bhatia Basti, from kidnappers within 24 hours, safely returning him to his family. Three persons, Dheeraj Balar, Suraj Prakash Jha, and Dilip Mahato, were arrested and sent to judicial custody on Thursday.

Kapali OP in-charge Sonu Kumar stated that the victim, Sunil Kumar Prasad, was a friend of the kidnappers. In 2023, Prasad borrowed Rs 2 lakh from Dheeraj Balar of Mango Jawahar Nagar Road No. 15 and Rs 56,000 from Dilip Mahato of Ulidih, Mango, for purchasing a mobile phone. The friends had been demanding repayment for months. When their demands were not met, they devised a plan to kidnap Prasad.

On Tuesday, the three lured Sunil to Dobo Bridge, abducted him in a white Innova Creta (JH05DQ-3397), and took him to a garage in Baliguma. They later moved to Ghatshila for dinner and spent the night in a nearby field. Early Wednesday morning, while the group was bathing, the police swiftly intervened, arresting the kidnappers and rescuing Prasad. The police also seized the car and three mobile phones used in the crime.

All three accused have been sent to judicial custody.
