Jamshedpur, Sept 16: City police arrested three persons for allegedly demanded Rs 20 lakh in ransom from one Rajesh Kumar, proprietor of a steel plant.
Those arrested were identified as Utpal Mandal, Neeraj Upadhyaya and Ayush Kumar. Utpal�s father works in the factory owned by Rajesh Kumar.
According to senior superintendent of police (SSP), Anoop Birtharay, the accused persons had demanded ransom from the businessman over phone on 8th September last and had also threatened to abduct his son.
Neeraj and Ayush had come to Jamshedpur all the way from Ranchi to carry out the extortion plan, said the SSP.
Police recovered the phone and SIM cards used by the accused persons to demand extortion.
