Thousands turn up at the last rites of Dr. RP Thakur

Jamshedpur, April 1: The last rites of Dr. RP Thakur, senior doctor of TMH, who died after suffering cardiac arrest on Friday, were performed at Subarnarekha burning ghat on Saturday.

Elder son Dr. Rajeev Kumar performed the rituals. Dr. RP Thakur suffered cardiac arrest after the farewell function in TMH as it was his last day at the hospital. His fellow doctors had organized a function on his retirement. Dr. Thakur was soon declared dead and his body was kept at the mortuary.

During the funeral procession people from all walks of life gathered to pay tribute to their beloved doctor who was known as a very kind hearted and noble person.

Some of the prominent people who were present at the burning ghat were state food and civil supplies minister Saryu Rai, Tata Steel vice president (Corporate Services) Sunil Bhaskaran, Zilla Parishad vice chairperson Rajkumar Singh, JVM leader Babua Singh, Jatashankar Pandey, Builder Vikas Singh, doctors from TMH and other hospitals around the city, friends and others.
