Jamshedpur, June 1: In a startling incident highlighting the vulnerability to theft even in upscale housing societies, a theft worth lakhs of rupees has been reported from Vijaya Garden in Birsanagar police station area of Jamshedpur.

The theft occurred at the duplex belonging to Shyam Sundar Pandey, who along with his entire family, had left for a visit to the Ram temple in Ayodhya on May 29. Thieves took advantage of their absence, breaking into the house on the night of May 31, and making away with jewellery and valuable items.

The discovery of the theft was made by the household maid on Saturday morning when she arrived to tend the garden and found the door broken. Subsequently, neighbors were alerted, and Shyam Sundar Pandey’s elder brother, Hari Shankar Pandey, was informed.

Upon inspection, it was found that jewellery from the entire house was missing. Hari Shankar Pandey expressed concern over the incident, noting that the house had more jewellery due to a recent family event. He also raised questions about the negligence of the society’s security agency.

Furthermore, the lock of a neighboring duplex was also found broken by the thieves, although they were unsuccessful in their attempt there. The incident has left residents in the vicinity shaken and apprehensive about the security situation in the area.
