The Milanee to host Khunti Puja, musical evening on Sept. 8

Jamshedpur: With Durga Puja round the corner, The Milanee, the oldest socio-cultural club in the city is all set to host Khunti Puja on September 8.
Khunti Puja is a customary ritual before putting up pandals, to mark the countdown of the festival season.

The club has planned daylong event to mark the occasion including musical evening at the Rabindra Bhawan in Sakchi, said Raju Dutta, general secretary of The Milanee. Every year the event was held at The Milanee but to reach the mass audience this year we have decided to organise the event at Rabindra Bhawan, informed Purobi Ghosh, executive member of the club.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Raju Dutta said, Khunti Puja for Durga Puja will be held at the club premises on Saturday morning. The evening session has been divided into three parts.

“Nivedita” the ladies wing of “The Milanee” will donate some amount of money to help one school at Bodam village in Patamda run by Bharat Sevashram Sangha. The boys school with Sabar children is already running but the focus is on to start a new girls school, added Purobi Ghosh.

Raju Dutta further said that legendary singer from Kolkata Haimanti Shukla and a popular play back singer Durnibar Saha will mesmerize the audience.

Durnibar Saha is emerging as a play back singer in Bengali Cinema while Haimanti Shukla has been awarded across the world for her contribution towards enriching Bengali Songs, added Dutta.

Also present at the press meet were vice presidents of the club Animesh Sarkar and Bhaskar Mitra, joint secretary Krishnendu Chatterjee and treasurer Goutam Guha.
