Ranchi: Political activity surrounding Jharkhand’s upcoming Rajya Sabha elections intensified on Saturday. Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka met Chief Minister Hemant Soren for the second consecutive day as the ruling alliance continues tense discussions over seat-sharing and candidate selection.
The Congress party actively pursues its claim for one of the two Rajya Sabha seats ahead of the June 18 election. The party has stepped up consultations with alliance partners and party legislators. Vikramarka, alongside Jharkhand Congress in-charge K. Raju, held detailed discussions with the Chief Minister regarding the alliance’s strategy and the Congress party’s position.
The leaders held a similar meeting on Friday, where Congress leaders reportedly presented their case for the Rajya Sabha seat. Sources said Chief Minister Hemant Soren requested two days to consult with alliance partners before delivering a final decision.
Following their meeting with the Chief Minister, K. Raju and Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka discussed the situation with members of the Congress Legislature Party at the State Guest House. This meeting focused on gathering feedback from MLAs and assessing the political situation. Party leaders also reviewed organizational strategy and potential candidates.
Saturday’s second round of talks between Vikramarka and Hemant Soren has further fueled political speculation over the alliance’s final seat-sharing arrangement. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Congress in-charge K. Raju said the Chief Minister assured them that the situation would become clear within the next two days.
Raju stated that Hemant Soren and the Congress high command continue their discussions, and the Chief Minister will make the final decision jointly with the party’s top leadership. He added that the Congress would abide by the central leadership’s decision.
According to party sources, the Congress remains firm on its demand for one Rajya Sabha seat and continues political consultations to strengthen its claim. Political observers believe the continued presence and active involvement of Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka highlight the immense importance the Congress leadership attaches to these Jharkhand elections.
With key meetings and consultations underway, attention now focuses on the next two days, when the ruling alliance expects to take a final call on its Rajya Sabha candidates.
