Jamshedpur, J: Jamshedpur witnessed yet another breakthrough in its fight against rising vehicle thefts, as three teenagers were arrested on January 17 with four stolen bikes. This arrest follows months of coordinated police efforts to crack down on a spate of bike and scooter thefts in the Sitaramdera police jurisdiction.
The arrest took place near the Shiva temple in Old Sitaramdera, where the police team, led by Sitaramdera police station in-charge, had been conducting continuous raids as part of a special operation. DSP Bhola Prasad from Headquarters One confirmed that the stolen bikes were recovered after the teenagers revealed their involvement in at least 15 thefts. The arrested teenagers have since been sent to judicial custody.
According to DSP Bhola Prasad, “We had been receiving reports of motorcycle and scooter thefts in Sitaramdera and neighbouring police station areas for the last two months. Our team was strategically positioned to track down the culprits and this raid was a major success.”
The stolen bikes were reportedly used by the minors for drug consumption, further deepening concerns about the link between substance abuse and petty crime in the region. “The minors were not only involved in thefts but were also using the stolen bikes to fuel their addiction,” DSP Prasad added.
The police are now focusing on locating the remaining stolen bikes and apprehending additional suspects involved in this growing trend of youth-driven vehicle thefts. This success adds to the series of recent victories by the police in controlling crime in Jamshedpur, reflecting their increased vigilance and proactive measures
