Team Sangharsh helps over 100 SDP donations

Jamshedpur: Team Sangharsh has collected 2728 units of blood during voluntary donation from 24th August to 8th September, 2019.

On 25th August Team Sangharsh organised a blood donation camp through �Udgam, Adityapur� wherein 1302 units were collected. The team claims that the blood collected is all time high in the history of East, West Singhbhum and Saraikela Kharsawan.

According to a press communique, Team Sangharsh has been making people aware about  single donor platelet (SDP).

Since single donor platelet is the choice of transfusion in recent times, awareness related to the same procedure is comparatively less than the normal donation. Need of the time is to spread awareness to create a donor pool for SDP donation, wherein donors can come voluntarily to donate blood to cater the crisis situation besides advocacy is needed to remove the negativity about SDP donation.

Every year Jamshedpur is facing severe problem of Dengue outbreak between July to October wherein platelet is requisitioned in huge numbers. Single donor platelet is far more beneficial in such cases in comparison to Random Donor Platelet. Since, storage is only five days, it can’t be stored. In such cases, spontaneous response from donors is needed.

At present, few donor organisation like, Team Sangharsh, Marwari Yuwa Manch, Indian Red Cross Society and VBDA is supporting on ongoing basis and Team Sangharsh has made a database of 30 SDP donors who are continuously coming forward for SDP donation which has now crossed over 100 SDP donations by Team Sanghars.
