Rail police to beef up security in trains, railway premises

Jamshedpur, Oct 13: West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand rail police have decided to launch a joint operation against criminals targeting passengers in trains and railway station premises. This was decided at a crime meeting convened at the office of Tatanagar Rail SP. The meeting was attended by the officials of Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Rail Police (GRP).

Chairing the meeting, Rail SP Ehtesham Waquarib said joint teams of RPF and GRP personnel will be launching special operation against criminals committing theft, snatching, drugging, loot and dacoity in trains. The rail police officials will keep a close eye on suspicious looking people, he said.

Rail police plan to beef up security in trains comes in the wake of recent threat given by Naxalites to blow up trains. They will also be pasting posters of train robbers and other criminals arrested or wanted by police.

Police officials have been asked to question any suspicious looking person in trains or railway premises.
