Jamshedpur: The three-day Tata Motors Workers Union Volleyball Tournament concluded on Monday with the Nexon team emerging as champions, while Harrier finished as runners-up after a closely contested final.
The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation and competitive matches across categories. In the first semi-final, Harrier (Category A) faced Tiago (Category B) in a thrilling encounter. Despite a strong fight by Tiago under the leadership of captain Naveen Sulanki, Harrier maintained its winning momentum and secured a place in the final.
The second semi-final saw Nexon (Category B) take on Tigor (Category A). Nexon delivered a confident performance to win the match and advance to the final.
The final match between Nexon and Harrier turned into an exciting contest. Harrier, led by captain Chandu Kumar, won the opening set and took an early lead. However, Nexon made a strong comeback, winning the next three sets consecutively to clinch the title with a 3–1 victory. Nexon captain Subodh Kumar’s effective game strategy played a key role in the team’s success. Notably, Union President Shashi Bhushan Prasad also participated as a player in the winning team.
Harrier captain Chandu Kumar was named Best Player of the Tournament for his outstanding performance. The champion and runner-up teams were awarded trophies, while players received medals and gifts.
The award ceremony was attended by HR Head Pranav Kumar, ER Head Soumik Roy, V.N. Singh, Rajat Singh, Union President Shashi Bhushan Prasad and General Secretary R.K. Singh. The programme was conducted by Prakash Vishwakarma, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Rajat Singh.
