Jamshedpur, July 1: On World Environment Day 2021, Tata Education Excellence Program (TEEP) launched an event for school students, ‘C-Rise’.
Over 350 students registered for this event which started on Jun 11, 2021 with guest lecture by Dr. Jawed Iqbal (Assistant Prof, Civil & Environment Engg-BIT Mesra), followed by training to students on understanding Carbon-Footprint. Students were then asked to work in group of 2 for Case Study round, where they reviewed their current carbon-footprint, and proposed means to reduce it.
Top 10 teams were selected for finale round held on Jun 23, 2021, where the students presented their ideas in front of jury panel consisting of Gaurav Anand (Chief Manager -Business Excellence – at TSUISL, instrumental for many sustainability related projects in Jamshedpur like the 1st plastic road) and Nandini Shukla (Principal- Kerala Samajam Model School).
Gaurav Anand also shared insights about the greening effort through Seed Balls, which is the easiest and cheapest way to contribute towards improving the Green Canopy around us.
The presentations by the ‘young green warriors’ were appreciated by all the judges. Shubhojeet Mahato and Shubham Shaw (both from class 10) of team ‘Nature Spirit’ from Kerala Public School (KPS) Kadma were declared the winners of the event.
The Envo Team comprising of Arfa Naaz (Class 10) and Ashray Kumar (Class 9) were the 1st runner up of the event. The 2nd runner up position was bagged by Riya Srivastava and Manita Kumari (Class 9) of team Riya from M.E.U.V Laxminagar.
