Team Jharkhand crowned winner of East Zone Karate Championship

Jamshedpur, June 26: Rohit Kumar of Andhra Pradesh bagged the first prize in the boys category while Khusbu of Jamshedpur was the champion in the girls category at the 1st East Zone Karate Championship organised by Jharkhand State Karate Do Association and supported by All India Karate Do Federation on 25th & 26th June at New Badminton Hall Indoor Stadium, Jamshedpur.

Team Jharkhand Team was adjudged first by securing 91 Points, West Bengal team was second with 26 Points while Bihar team was third with 22 Marks followed by 4th place secured by Odisha with 14 Points.

The Championship concluded on Monday were Chief Guest was DC Amit Kumar, Dinesh Kumar, BJP district president were chairman Jharkhand State Karate Do Association and Subhash Sharma Commanding Officer CRPF was Guest of Honour. The Prize was distributed the distinguished guests. Earlier inaugural speech was delivered by Dinesh Kumar and L. Nageshwar Rao.

The team of Andhra Pradesh and Assam displayed their best skills. The guests presented mementos to International Level Judges and Referees viz. Kyoshi P. R. Ratnapala, Vice President, AIKF from Chennai, Shihan Joy Abraham, Director (North Zone), AIKF from Mumbai and Shihan Ram Dayal, Treasurer, AIKF from Kerala. Shihan L. Nageshwar Rao presented Honorary Black Belt to DC Amit Kumar and Dinesh Kumar.

Addressing the gathering Amit Kumar thanked Shihan L. Nageshwar Rao for organising such an event. He stressed that training of Karate should be given to all school children. At last Shihan L. Nageshwar Rao and Amit Kumar Khandelwal jointly thanked all for making the event successful.

It may be noted that 5OO Karatikas from Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu participated.
