Jamshedpur, August 22: Steel city students have proved their mettle once again. In the inter-school quiz TCS IT Wiz organized Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Kolkata students from Rajendra Vidyalaya were crowned the regional champions of the quiz on Friday.
Over 1000 students from various schools from Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand participated in TCS IT Wiz, India’s biggest inter-school quiz. The quiz was open to all High School students studying in class 8-12. School students from Jamshedpur had also participated in the Kolkata edition.
After 5 rounds of quizzing at the Regional finals Adnan Azmat and Shadan Kalam from Rajendra Vidyalaya, Jamshedpur school won the title. The Regional champions this year walked away with an I Pad air each while the runners-up represented by Srijan Banerjee and Xersex Rahman from MP Birla Foundation school won an I Pad mini each along with a specially designed trophy and medals.
Elated with their performance, Principal of Rajendra Vidyalaya PB Sahay said that both are brilliant students. Adnan Azmat and Shadan Kalam have prove their intelligence and made the school and Jamshedpur proud with their achievement. We hope they carry on with the same rhythm and bring more honor to the school and city.
The 6 finalists who had made to the Regional Finals after the written preliminary round also received an array of prizes from TCS ranging from Laptop Bags, Headphone, Selfie Sticks with Bluetooth, Sipper and USB Pen Drive.
The prizes were distributed by the guest of Honour Debashis Sen, IAS, Principal Secretary, Urban Development Department, Government of West Bengal Honorable Chairman WBHIDCO Ltd (West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited) along with Ajoyendra Mukherjee Executive President and Head Global HR, TCS and Mr Sridhar Bakshi, Vice President, and Head of Operations, TCS Kolkata.
TCS IT Wiz this year is held across 15 locations in India – Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune and Visakhapatnam. The IT Wiz is making its debut in Visakhapatnam this year.
TCS IT Wiz, a Knowledge Initiative started in 1999, is the biggest inter school IT Quiz in India for students of class 8-12. The quiz aims to build awareness and emphasize the importance of IT skills.
