Team Chess: KPS Kadma, hosts Carmel in the lead after round 7

Jamshedpur, July 30: Hosts Carmel Junior College continued the lead with 27� points after the seventh round in senior category at the 5th edition of the Carmel Summit Interschool Team Chess Tournament 2017 at the Carmel Junior College, Sonari, on Saturday. Motilal Nehru Public School (MNPS) stood second with 21 points while Loyola School was at the third place with 20 points.

In the junior group KPS Kadma is sitting at the top with 20� points. Loyola School remained at the second position with 17� points while Sacred Heart Convent School was third with 17 points.

AIWC Academy of Excellence played a 2-2 draw with Tarapore School, while DAV NIT also played a 2-2 draw with KPS Kadma. Loyola School beat DBMS English School 4-0, Carmel Junior College defeated JH Tarapore School 3�-� while Motilal Nehru Public School beat Mount Litera Zee School 4-0 in the seventh round for the senior category.

In the seventh round contest for junior category Mount Litera Zee School draw the game 2-2 with Tarapore School, Carmel Junior College beat 2�-1� Loyola School, DAV NIT lost to Sacred Heart Convent School 0 – 4, KPS Kadma defeated DBMS English School 4-0, while Motilal Nehru Public School drubbed J.H. Tarapore School 2�-1�.

The tournament is being played in round robin basis i.e. 9 rounds.

Carmel Junior College sports co-ordinator Pradip Mukherjee, said, seven rounds have been played after day 2 of the tournament on Sunday. Two rounds will be held on Monday, the concluding day after which the prize distribution function will be held at 1 pm.

Notably, there are 10 invited school teams in each group and each team consisting of 4 players.
