Jamshedpur, Nov 28: Tatanagar Railway Station is poised to join the ranks of 150 stations across India certified under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI)’s “Eat Right Station” initiative. This program ensures passengers have access to safe and hygienic food while traveling.

The certification process involves detailed audits of food vendors, comprehensive training for food handlers, and strict adherence to hygiene and sanitation protocols. Recently, a two-member team from Chennai conducted an extensive assessment of Tatanagar station’s catering arrangements.

During the inspection, the team evaluated the cleanliness of food stalls and restaurants, reviewed compliance with registration requirements, and checked the measures in place for the safe storage of catering items. They also collected data on the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) levels in railway tap water. The inspection team included Catering Inspector Rakesh Kumar, Chief Health Inspector Jitendra Kumar, and Commercial Deputy Superintendent Chandan Kumar, along with other railway staff.

The “Eat Right” certification not only ensures safe food for passengers but also benefits food vendors. Meeting these standards enhances vendor credibility, attracts more customers, and contributes to better livelihoods.

This recognition will position Tatanagar as a benchmark for food safety, reaffirming the station’s commitment to passenger well-being and public health.
