Jamshedpur, June 14: The South Eastern Railway Zone of the railway has initiated measures to boost train speeds, focusing on improving signal systems and closing crossings for safer operations. A tender has been issued for the closure of crossings in Chakradharpur division, alongside the construction of road under-bridges and the installation of automatic signaling systems. An investment exceeding ₹16 crore has been earmarked for these projects.

Additionally, plans included the installation of auxiliary transformers along the Asanbani to Tatanagar-Rajkharsawan and Rourkela routes, as well as updating electronic interlocking systems and expanding data logging capabilities. Furthermore, two crossings on the Rajkharsawan to Danguwaposi route were slated for closure.

Efforts were underway to establish telecommunication facilities in the proposed guard-crew lobby at Danguwaposi to facilitate information exchange and ensure operational efficiency. These initiatives aimed to increase train speeds, with the installation of road under-bridges and the replacement of sleepers, enabling trains with LHB coaches to operate at speeds of up to 110 km/h. Plans were also in place to introduce semi high-speed trains on the railway zone’s lines, reducing travel time for passengers.
