Tatanagar: South Eastern Railway announces two pairs of Chhath Puja Special Trains

Jamshedpur: In a bid to address the anticipated surge in passenger traffic during the festive season, South Eastern Railway (SER) has announced the operation of two pairs of Chhath Puja Special Trains. The decision comes as a proactive measure to ensure the smooth and timely transportation of passengers during the Chhath Puja festivities, a significant cultural event celebrated with fervour in the region.

Ranchi – Laheria Sarai Chhath Puja Specials (Train No. 08626/08625): The Ranchi – Laheria Sarai Chhath Puja Special (Train No. 08626) is scheduled to depart from Ranchi on 9th November 2023 and 16th November 2023 at 23:00 hrs. The train will reach Laheria Sarai at 13:25 hrs the following day. On its return journey, the Laheria Sarai – Ranchi Chhath Puja Special (Train No. 08625) will depart from Laheria Sarai on 10th November 2023 and 17th November 2023 at 15:30 hrs, reaching Ranchi at 03:40 hrs the next day.

Speaking about the initiative, a spokesperson for South Eastern Railway, stated, “Chhath Puja holds immense cultural significance in our region, and we recognize the increased demand for transportation during this festive period. The introduction of these special trains aims to cater to the travel needs of the passengers and ensure a hassle-free journey to their respective destinations.”

The special train is designed to make stops at key stations such as Muri, Bokaro Steel City, Chandrapura, Dhanbad, Chittaranjan, Madhupur, Jasidih, Jhajha, Kiul, Barauni, and Samastipur, facilitating convenient boarding and alighting for the passengers traveling between Ranchi and Laheria Sarai.

Hatia – Gorakhpur Chhath Puja Specials (Train No. 08025/08026): The Hatia – Gorakhpur Chhath Puja Special (Train No. 08025) is set to depart from Hatia on 10th November 2023 and 17th November 2023 at 23:45 hrs. The train will reach Gorakhpur at 17:20 hrs the next day. On its return journey, the Gorakhpur – Hatia Chhath Puja Special (Train No. 08026) will leave Gorakhpur on 11th November 2023 and 18th November 2023 at 19:30 hrs, reaching Hatia at 11:50 hrs the next day.

He further added, “The Hatia-Gorakhpur route witnesses a significant influx of travelers during Chhath Puja, and these special trains have been strategically scheduled to accommodate this surge in demand. We aim to provide a comfortable and efficient mode of transportation for those participating in the Chhath Puja celebrations.”

This special train will stop at crucial stations including Ranchi, Muri, Barkakana, Latehar, Daltonganj, Garhwa Road, Dehri On Sone, Sasaram, Bhabua Road, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhayaya, Varanasi, Mau, Benthara Road, and Deoria Sadar along the Hatia-Gorakhpur route.

As the South Eastern Railway gears up for the implementation of these Chhath Puja Specials, it reaffirms its commitment to providing reliable and convenient transportation services to the passengers, ensuring a safe and enjoyable journey during the festive season.
