Tatanagar: Railway launches Bharat Gaurav train scheme to promote tourism

Jamshedpur, July 1: In an initiative to boost tourism, Indian Railways, under the Dekho Apna Desh campaign, has introduced the Bharat Gaurav train scheme. The East Zone Kolkata branch of Indian Railways, in collaboration with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (a Government of India Enterprise Mini Ratna), is organizing a special tourist train that will cover popular destinations such as Haridwar, Rishikesh, Mata Vaishnodevi, Amritsar, Mathura, Vrindavan, Agra, and Ayodhya.

The Bharat Gaurav train scheme aims to promote tourism by offering a 33 percent concession on ticket prices. The tour is scheduled to commence on Friday, August 11, from Howrah (Kolkata) and will conclude on Monday, August 21. The train will make stops at various stations, including Mecheda, Kharagpur, Midnapore, Tatanagar, Purulia, Ranchi, Bokaro Steel City, Dhanbad, Hazaribagh Road, Koderma, Gaya, Sasaram, and Deendayal Upadhyay, allowing pilgrims to board the train and join the tour.

Manish Kumar, the Chief Supervisor of Tourism Corporation, along with Nikhil Prasad and Ravi Lamba, provided additional details about the Bharat Gaurav train scheme during a media briefing at Tatanagar Railway Station. They highlighted that for the first time, the scheme offers three categories of travel and inclusion options. Interested tourists can access comprehensive information regarding travel and bookings through the official website and a dedicated helpline.

To ensure a comfortable and secure journey, security guards, sweepers, and tour escorts will be available in all coaches of the Bharat Gaurav train. The fare for the tour has been categorized as follows: Rs. 17,700 per person for sleeper class, Rs. 27,400 per person for standard 3AC class, and Rs. 30,300 per person for comfort 3AC class. Accommodations for overnight stays will be provided in air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned hotels, depending on the chosen category. Furthermore, passengers will be served vegetarian meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) along with morning and evening tea. Additionally, two bottles of water per day will be provided to each passenger. The tour also includes arrangements for air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned buses, based on the chosen category, for convenient sightseeing during the trip.
