Jamshedpur: The Tatanagar Railway Engineering Department is set to initiate a major anti-encroachment operation to reclaim railway land in Jamshedpur. The drive is scheduled to take place on two specific dates: Wednesday, April 22, and Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
Targeted Areas
The operation will primarily focus on clearing illegal structures and encroachments in the Burmamines area and Gudri Bazar. These areas have been identified as critical for upcoming railway development projects.
Administrative Support and Security
Following a formal request from the Chakradharpur Division, the district administration has appointed magistrates to oversee the operation and ensure it is carried out smoothly. To maintain law and order, formal letters have been sent to local authorities, including:
- Bagbera Police Station
- Burmamines Police Station
- Railway Protection Force (RPF)
A heavy security presence is expected at the sites to prevent any untoward incidents during the demolition process.
Reason for the Drive
According to railway officials, the removal of these encroachments is essential for the planned redevelopment of Tatanagar Station and other ongoing construction works. The Railway Department has clarified that notices had already been served to the occupants of the encroached land, providing them ample time to vacate the premises voluntarily.
Warning to Encroachers
With the appointment of magistrates and the mobilization of security forces, the authorities have signaled their intent to proceed with the “bulldozer campaign” as planned. Residents and shopkeepers in the affected areas have been advised to remove their belongings to avoid losses during the scheduled drive.
