Jamshedpur: Rail passengers travelling to and from Tatanagar will face inconvenience till January 11 as the South Eastern Railway has cancelled eight trains and partially cancelled 12 others due to track maintenance work in the Adra railway division. The maintenance will be carried out from January 5 to January 11 under a rolling block system, officials said.
According to railway authorities, several passenger and MEMU services have been cancelled on different dates, while many trains will run only on truncated routes with short termination and short origination. In addition, a few express and MEMU trains will operate on a rescheduled timetable, causing delays ranging from one to three hours.
Train number 18601 Tatanagar–Hatia Express, scheduled to depart from Tatanagar on January 6, will be diverted via Chandil, Purulia, Kotsila and Muri to reach Hatia. Meanwhile, train number 12802 Anand Vihar–Puri Purushottam Express will be controlled for 30 minutes on the Chandrapura–Rajabera section between January 5 and 11. Similarly, Katihar–Tatanagar Express (28182) departing on January 6, 7 and 10 will be delayed by 30 minutes at Burnpur, while Thawe–Tatanagar Express (18182) departing on January 9 will also be controlled for 30 minutes at Burnpur.
The railway administration said the disruptions will impact passengers across Jharkhand, Bihar and West Bengal. Passengers have been advised to check the latest train status before starting their journey.
Cancelled Trains:
The Asansol–Adra–Asansol MEMU (68046/68045) will remain cancelled on January 6. The Adra–Barabhum–Adra MEMU Passenger (68053/68054) will be cancelled on January 8 and 11. The Adra–Bhaga–Adra MEMU (68077/68078) will not run on January 6 and 10, while the Adra–Asansol–Adra MEMU (68061/68062) will remain cancelled on January 5, 8 and 11.
Partially Cancelled Trains:
The Jhargram–Dhanbad–Jhargram Express (18019/18020) will run only up to Bokaro Steel City between January 5 and 9 and on January 11, with services cancelled between Bokaro and Dhanbad. The Bardhaman–Hatia–Bardhaman MEMU Express (13503/13504) will operate only up to Gomoh from January 5 to 11. Several MEMU services, including Tatanagar–Asansol, Asansol–Purulia, Asansol–Tatanagar and Adra–Medinipur routes, will also operate on truncated sections on specific dates.
Rescheduled Trains:
Buxar–Tatanagar Express (18184) will depart 60 minutes late on January 8 and 11. Kharagpur–Hatia Express (18035) will depart 150 minutes late on January 8 and 11, while Hatia–Kharagpur Express on January 7 will be delayed by 120 minutes. The Dhanbad–Bankura MEMU (68088) will also run one hour late on January 6 and 10.
Railway officials said the maintenance work is necessary for safety and urged passengers to plan their journeys accordingly.
