Tatanagar: Passengers left in lurch as trains cancelled

Jamshedpur, Oct 27: The issue of train cancellations originating from Tatanagar Railway Station is causing increasing concern among passengers. In the month of October, approximately 50 trains scheduled to depart from or pass through Tatanagar are canceled. Simultaneously, more than 50 trains were either diverted or short-terminated.

Tatanagar railway station witnesses the passage of 54 trains daily, accommodating around 19,000 passengers. Among these passengers, 12,000 are unreserved travelers, while 7,000 have reservations. The ongoing development projects and construction of new rail lines have led to train cancellations even during festive seasons, adversely affecting passengers. Surprisingly, goods trains continue to operate without interruption, having been redirected to new routes.

Trains remain canceled, diverted, and short-terminated for various reasons. From October 25 to November 15, 18 trains were canceled due to interlocking at Ghatshila, Galudih, Rakhamines, Asanbani, and Salgajhudi stations for the construction of Kharagpur-Adityapur Third Line.

Four trains are diverted from November 1 to 4, and Ispat Express will remain canceled from October 31.

Furthermore, Tatanagar Bilaspur and Tata Itwari trains were canceled on October 17, 18, and 19.

These disruptions have left travelers frustrated and uncertain about their journeys.

Rakesh Jujhar, a resident of Kadma, expressed concerns about the continuous train cancellations, which have disrupted both travel plans and business activities.

Chanchal Bhatia, a local businessman in Jamshedpur, also emphasized the adverse impact on business due to these disruptions, highlighting the need for improved rail services in the region.
