Student’s suicide note reveals academic stress

Jamshedpur: Saurabh Suman, a third-year student studying Electronics and Communication at BIT Mesra in Ranchi, committed suicide by hanging himself in room number 391 of hostel number 10. The tragic event unfolded on Thursday night at around 8:00 pm, leaving the academic community in shock.

The distressing news came to light after one of Saurabh’s friends reported the incident to the college authorities, prompting immediate action.

College management swiftly informed the police and Saurabh’s family about the grievous occurrence.

Saurabh hailed from Telco area of Jamshedpur.

On receiving the news, Saurabh’s father, Baliram Baitha, along with other family members, left Jamshedpur for Ranchi. The police also arrived at the scene, with the BIT police station in-charge Sumit Kumar Singh, DSP Sadar Prabhat Ranjan Barwar, and Khelgaon police station in-charge Manoj Mahato.

A suicide note was discovered in Saurabh’s room, which bore a poignant message: “You all have done a lot for me. Thank you, mom, thank you, dad, thank you, uncle.”

Preliminary investigation reveals that Saurabh was struggling academically and had been under considerable stress in the days leading up to this tragic event.
