Tatanagar-Amritsar, Santragachi-Anand Vihar among several trains cancelled due to fog

Jamshedpur, Oct 7: Keeping in mind the hindrance caused by foggy weather during winter season,  South Eastern Railway on Thursday notified cancellation of several special trains.

According to information, the trains which will remain cancelled include 02583 Hatia-Anand Vihar Special. The train will be off the tracks from November 30 to December 30. The 02584 Anand Vihar-Hatia Special will remain cancelled from December 1 to January 3.

The 08103 Tatanagar-Amritsar Special will remain cancelled for one month from November 29 to December 29. The 08104 Amritsar-Tatanagar Special will remain cancelled from December 1 to December 31.

The 02585 Santragachi-Anand Vihar Special will remain cancelled between December 6 and December 27. The 02586 Anand Vihar-Santragachi Special will remain cancelled from December 7 to December 28.

Railway officials at Garden Reach, the headquarters of South Eastern Railway said in view of the inconvenience usually faced by passengers the decisions have been taken. The foggy weather conditions between November and January often result in train delays and disruption in the movement of passenger trains.

The Tatanagar railway station is the only A1-category railway station under Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway ( SER). The footfall at the station is gradually on the rise because of the increasing number of trains and also because of the fact that Tatanagar falls on the Howrah-Mumbai main line. Several important trains travel via Tatanagar, including the high-profile Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express. The station sees a daily traffic of 90 mail, express and passenger trains, besides a footfall of more than 60,000 passengers. But, in view of the pandemic around a dozen trains pass through the station these days. The footfall of passengers has also come down drastically.
