Jamshedpur, December 1: The election atmosphere has started heating up in Tata Workers Union with announcement of dates anytime in December.
According to the rules, the new committee has to take charge by the month of February. It is expected that elections will be held by the end of January. The last elections of Tata Workers Union were held on 31 January 2021.
According to the constitution of the union, the election officer has to be selected before the elections. After this an election committee will be formed. All the processes will be conducted under the election officer only. 11 office bearers are to be elected for the union. It will be elected by 214 committee members. First 214 committee members have to be elected. After that the elected committee members will choose the office bearers.
The posts of about two dozen committee members of Tata Workers Union are lying vacant. According to the rules, the process of election for the vacant post is to be started within 15 days. After this, elections are to be held within a month, but till date elections have not been held for more than 24 posts. The Constitution was not followed in this case. Therefore, the matter may once again go to the High Court.
There has been a legal entanglement in the High Court every time regarding the elections of Tata Workers Union. Every time a case was filed in the High Court. Then the process for elections has been happening under government supervision. This time too, if the matter goes to court, complications may arise again.
