Jamshedpur, Jan 18: The elections for the positions of election officer and election committee members of Tata Workers Union, the recognized union of Tata Steel, concluded without any opposition as all candidates from Team Tunnu remained unchallenged.
In a notable turn of events, no nominations were filed against Team Tunnu, leading to an uncontested victory for the entire slate. The absence of competing candidates resulted in a unanimous decision to declare Srinivas Rao as the election returning officer, as announced by the election observer from the Labor Department.

The newly elected members of the election committee include Prabhunath Singh (Cold Rolling Mill), Shantanu Rai (New Bar Mill), Deepak Kumar (LD 1), Nishant Prakash (LD 2), Ravindra Singh (LD 3), and Ajit Lakra (Sinter Plant).

It is noteworthy that Mohammad Rafiq from the Line Plant, part of Chairman Sanjeev Chaudhary Tunnu’s department, had initially taken the nomination form for the position of election officer. Supported by Ashok Kumar Gupta from Cold Rolling Mill, Rafiq faced a setback as he failed to garner the required support of 20 committee members, preventing him from filing the nomination. Consequently, the election observer declared all candidates elected unopposed.
With the election process now completed, the newly elected officials, along with the six-member election committee, will assume responsibilities related to the Tata Workers Union elections. Subsequently, a code of conduct will be instituted to govern the proceedings of the union elections.
