Tata Workers Union election on March 9

Jamshedpur: In the light of High Court order for an impartial free and fare election the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Amitabh Kaushal has announced the date of Tata Workers Union election.

The election for TWU executive committee members would be held on March 9 and the results would be announced on March 10, 2015. The notification to the effect was announced today.

The venue of the election would be decided later, administrative sources here said.

The DC has appointed Deputy Development Commissioner Lal Mohan Mahato as observer for the polls. It would be the responsibility of the poll observer to conduct the election in a free and fare manner.

Senior administrative officials including SSP and SDO would provide adequate security cover before, during and after the election. For a greater supervision CCTV cameras would also be installed at the venue, administrative sources here said.

The DC in his notification orders that model code of conduct would be in effect from February 9, 2015. The notification has urged the present union office-bearers and committee members not to misuse office to gain favors of any kind till the election is over.

No candidate would be allowed to ask for votes in the name of caste, creed, religion and language. The company too would not indulge in any kind of activities that may hinder the polls in any manner, the notification says.

The deputy commissioner has also released the poll schedule. The voters list for election of executive committee members will be published on February 22.

The last date for filing objections and resolution of disputes will be done on February 25. The last date to withdraw nominations has been fixed on March 4. The election would be held on March 9 while counting and announcement of results would be held on March 10.
