Tata Steel`s Sankalp Yatra flagged off to target youth well-being

Noamundi, Jan. 11: The Ore Mines & Quarries (OMQ) Division of Tata Steel organised Sankalp Yatra on Wednesday covering Noamundi, Joda and Jagannathpur block.

The Sankalp Yatra was flagged off from five villages of these blocks simultaneously. These villages are Deogaon, Ansaikela, Anandabazar, Betarkia and Lokesai.

Sankalp Yatra will move from village to village covering 46 villages and will culminate at Sangram Sahi, Noamundi on January 12, 2017. The yatra is being organised as part of National Youth Day celebration. National Youth Day is celebrated on January 12 to commemorate the birthday of Swami Vivekananda. Sankalp Yatra will spread the message of malnutrition, alcoholism and information & communication among youths.

Sankalp Yatra was flagged off by Pankaj Satija, General Manager (OMQ), Tata Steel along with Laxmi Soren, member of Zila Parishad from Lokesai village of Noamundi. Geeta Koda, MLA Jagannathpur Constituency, Niranjan Bobonga Manki and Bamia Munda also participated in the Sankalp Yatra at Lokesai .

Others who flagged off Sankalp Yatra from different villages include Dr Yugeshwar Ram, Civil Surgeon West Singhbhum, Pradeep Kumar Mahto , BDO Jagannathpur, Debdoot Mohanty, Head CSR (Jharkhand), Tata Steel and Captain Amitabh, Head (Skill Development), Tata Steel.

Speaking on the occasion, Satija said, “We decided on Sankalp Yatra to interact more closely with the youths and educate them about issues concerning them and their village as a whole. This is just a beginning. We`ll create more forums for youths to discuss the burning issues.”

Around 4000 people including 25 youth groups from 46 villages are expected to participate in the Sankalp Yatra. The yatra will cover 120 km in total. The discussion forums created in villages based on the theme will surely enrich the knowledge of the youths on the subjects which are of crucial importance to their well-being and success, felt one of the villagers from Lokesai.
