Jamshedpur, Jan 27: Republic Day at Tata Steel witnessed the hoisting of the national flag at the main gate, led by Avneesh Gupta, Vice President, TQM and Engineering Project, Tata Steel. The event included an impressive march past by the security department.
In his address, Avneesh Gupta outlined Tata Steel’s commitment to integrated growth and its historical role in contributing to the country’s economic development. He emphasized India’s rapid economic growth and expressed confidence in sustained growth through investments until the financial year 2025.

Highlighting the steel sector’s growth of 11 percent, Gupta acknowledged the increased demand for steel in the domestic market. However, he also noted the impact of reduced international demand on Tata Steel’s business, urging vigilance among stakeholders. Currently, Tata Steel is focused on expanding its capacity, aiming to increase from the current 26 million tonnes to 40 million tonnes in the next ten years.

Gupta provided insights into ongoing projects, including the expansion program at the Kalinganagar plant, which will boost annual production capacity by 5 million tonnes. Additionally, a 6 million tonne iron ore processing plant is under construction in Noamundi. Notably, Tata Steel is setting up the world’s second-largest blast furnace in Kalinganagar, along with the installation of a slab caster and a new annealing line.

Safety and CSR initiatives were also underscored in Gupta’s address. Tata Steel places a strong emphasis on safety to ensure the well-being of its employees. The company actively engages in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) through the Tata Steel Foundation and is dedicated to environmental improvement. The ambitious growth plans and strategic investments signal Tata Steel’s commitment to contributing significantly to India’s industrial landscape.
