Jamshedpur, Dec 11: Tata Steel UISL’s attempt to install electricity and water meters in Bhalubasa Harijan Basti has sparked strong opposition from the local residents. For decades, Tata Steel had provided free water and electricity to the community, but the recent installation of meters has upset the locals. They claim that this is a breach of the promises made by Tata Steel and view it as an unfair move against their community.
One local resident stated, “For 100 years, Tata Steel provided us with free water and electricity. Now, they are installing meters, and we will have to pay for these services. This feels like a betrayal.” The community has expressed their anger and frustration over the sudden change in the arrangement.
Despite the protests, Tata Steel UISL officials have not issued any official statement regarding the matter. The residents’ concerns highlight the longstanding relationship they had with the company, which now appears to be shifting with the installation of meters.
