Jamshedpur, May 11: Tea-snack shops near NML Chowk in Burmamines, which have been operating for years, are set to be removed by Tata Steel for company parking. This has caused an outcry from the affected shopkeepers, who have been maintaining their families for the last 30 to 40 years from the income generated by these shops. They claim that the Tata Steel officials have forcibly announced to remove the shops to open new gates, which would result in a livelihood crisis for them. Jamshedpur East’s MLA Saryu Rai visited the shopkeepers at NML Chowk in Burmamines on receiving information about the removal and on the call of the shopkeepers. He met with the shopkeepers to understand their situation and assured them that he would propose to Tata Steel officials to open the gate through an alternative route. Along with Saryu Rai, BJMO Barmamains Mandal President Durga Rao and others were also present during the visit. The situation remains tense, and the shopkeepers are hoping for a positive resolution to their predicament.
