Tata Steel showcases state-of art technology to the inter-state delegation

Engineers across nation appreciate quality assurance lab for Tata Aggreto

Jamshedpur, Nov 30: Tata Steel has set a benchmark of sustainability by utilizing its slag-based aggregates in construction of rural roads. Over 1.5 lac tonnes of slag-based aggregates have been utilized in construction of 21 roads, developed by Jharkhand State Rural Road Development Authority (JSRRDA) in the East Singhbhum district.

The inter-state delegation comprising a team from Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India, Engineers from various states, senior officials from JSRRDA and Tata Steel visited the project site of the ongoing Kamalbera PMGSY road project being developed with Tata Aggreto & Tata Nirman. The team also appreciated the exemplary condition of the Raotara to Ghoradhna PMGSY road, which was the first road to be developed using Tata Aggreto & Tata Nirman in 2017.

The team also visited the state-of-the-art testing laboratory for Tata Aggreto wherein the testing process was explained in detail. Tata Steel is first company in the country to give Quality Test certificate for the Manufactured aggregates. The critical product parameters and key benefits of Tata Aggreto over conventional aggregates were communicated to the inter-state delegation.

Officials from MoRD and delegates from various states showed a keen interest in the products and applauded the efforts undertaken by Tata Steel to develop sustainable products for PMGSY roads. The 2-day workshop has been successful in instilling confidence in this green technology and will accelerate its adoption across the country. The closing ceremony was attended by Dipankar Dasgupta, EIC-IBMD, Rajesh Rajak, Executive Engineer, RWD Jamshedpur and Subodh Paswan, Executive Engineer from JSRRDA.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had introduced Mission LiFE (Life Style for Environment) to the world at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the parties (COP26) in Glasgow. In line with this guidance, as a joint initiative by Tata Steel and JSRRDA, a two-day workshop was organised. More than 40 delegates from various parts of the country, including officials from Ministry of Rural Development, GoI joined to deliberate green technologies in rural road construction. The rural roads developed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) using Tata Aggreto, the branded steel slag product of Tata Steel, were showcased to the visiting delegates.
